Old Portsmouth and the Tower

The land with the white building is called the 'Spice Island' which, in the old days, used to import many exotic spices from the Carribean. The only cargo that Portsmouth receives these days are bananas - and they go up to the container port further up the harbour. You can see a better view of the actual Spice Island here.

as much as I loved your fireworks series, I couldn't wait for more stunning views of your portsmouth. and here it is! the balance between old and new. my favourite subject. I appreciate it when architects don't disrupt the landscape by building monstrosities. This is a wonderful shot!
Lovely shot of this lovely scene. Thanks for all the detailed commentary. Spice Island captures my imagination. Here in the States, there is a spice brand called Spice Island, and my kitchen cupboard is full of them. Thanks for including the link for the sat. view, too.
